About Me
Hi! I’m Mayukha. I moved to the U.S. from India to pursue my Master’s in Computer Science at the University of Utah — and to see if I could survive both graduate school and Utah winters (spoiler: so far, so good). Right now, I’m interning as a Bank Data Scientist at BMW Financial Services, working with the Credit Department on loan model optimization and regulatory compliance. Alongside that, I’m a Research Assistant at the Scientific Computing and Imaging Institute, where I build interpretable ML models for medical imaging — because AI should be explainable, not mysterious like the Spotify algorithm.
I interned at Maverik Inc. as an IT QA Analyst during the summer, and before that, I completed my undergrad in India, where I worked on deep learning models for TB detection — one of those projects even won Best Paper and got published! I love working at the intersection of machine learning, real-world impact, and explainability. My career goal is to develop trustworthy AI systems that address high-stakes problems in finance, healthcare, or other areas where decisions have the greatest impact. I’m especially interested in models that aren't just accurate, but also accountable — and I care a lot about making complex things understandable (whether it's a neural network or a Netflix recommendation).
Outside of my technical life, I’m a bit of a domestic maximalist. I genuinely enjoy cooking, organizing everything from closets to code, and delivering dramatic, overly analytical reviews of food and movies no one asked for. I like systems that work — whether it's a clean ML pipeline or a spice rack sorted by color, cuisine, and emotional significance.
